Dóra Horváth
actor and drama teacher
I first came into contact with drama education more than fifteen years ago as a student actor. After graduating from the Nemes Nagy Ágnes Nemes Nagy Human Vocational School as an actor II - drama teacher, I started working at the Open Circle Association as an actor-drama teacher. I acted in six performances and led several drama classes in the Youth in Action programme for one year.
In 2014, I took part in a residency programme at the Cave Cultural Workshop and a participatory theatre performance. At the end of this process, we created a performance called Milenda, which we performed for two years in Marczibányi Square. I have also been involved in children's and student theatre for nine years.
Perhaps the best thing about the drama class format is that as a participant I can shape the play myself and encounter situations that can be played out in real life. I can live the consequences of my decision in a given situation. Drama class is one of the best places to experiment with impunity and it teaches you to recognise in real life that there are more than two sides to a coin. For "nothing is white or black, and that what is white is often black is only concealed, and that what is black is sometimes white is only deceived."
